Bulldog Rescue Program
Molly Mayer is one of YHBR's most dedicated volunteers — and bulldogs are her heart dogs. When YHBR has available foster homes, she drives to high-kill shelters across the region to pull bulldogs with hours left on their timelines. She does it on her own time and at her own initiative, because she knows exactly what these dogs are worth.

Bulldogs and bully breeds are consistently among the most at-risk animals in high-kill facilities. Their size, perceived temperament, and medical complexity lead to shorter timelines before euthanasia at overcrowded shelters.
Molly actively monitors high-kill shelters and makes the drive to pull bulldogs whenever YHBR has a foster home ready to receive them. Every dog she pulls has a plan from day one: a vet intake, a foster placement, and an adoption pathway.
This program lives and dies by foster availability. The more bulldog-ready foster homes we have, the more dogs we can reach. If you have space and want to help — this is it.
Foster-to-Adopt for Bulldogs
Many bulldogs in our program enter as foster-to-adopt: they may need spay/neuter surgery or remaining vaccinations before adoption is finalized. You foster them while we handle their medical care — and adoption is completed once they're fully cleared. You get to know them first, and they get to feel safe from day one.

Why Bulldogs?
Loyal, gentle, and deeply bonded to their people — bulldogs are frequently misunderstood and overrepresented on euthanasia lists at high-intake shelters. One volunteer's love for this breed became a dedicated program.
Medical Support
Bulldogs often arrive with health needs — respiratory concerns, skin conditions, joint issues. YHBR covers all medical costs for every dog in the program, from intake through adoption. Foster families pay nothing out of pocket.
